Hi everybody !

I thought it might be a good idea to have a specific thread in this forum
for discussions about different items, which have nothing to do with GPS.

This idea came up, when Albert posted a nice story (more about this later).
And because I like these kind of stories, I thought maybe others have also
some fun with this.

And a second reason is, that I'm looking quite often in this forum to see,
if there are new solutions or hints provided by other members.
And for this long time of waiting it could be nice to have some entertainment...

Finally I hope, that this idea is not against the rules of this forum ?
(I didn't reread the rules...)

Hi all,

Okay - here is the story sent by Albert:

3 men are deciding to rent a apartment  with 3 bedrooms. The pay the counter boy 100 Euro, then they go to their bedrooms. The boss from the apartment discovers the boy forgot to give 10% discount, so he sends the boy with 10 Euro to the 3 man. The boy thinks I take 4 Euro, because that is better to divide for 3 people. He gives each person 2 Euro back.
So instead of 100 they paid 100-6=94 Euro, can you agree with that?
But with the 4 Euro the boy took it is 94 +4= 98 Euro.
Where did the 2 Euro go?

Here is another one to break.

with 10 sticks you make 5 crosses, rule is to skip every time 2 sticks and place them on the 3e. A cross means 2 sticks. e.g.

I I I I I I I I I I

  I I X I I I I I I
  I   X X I I I I I

Hi Albert !

Yesterday I had some time between dinner and my evening running training and so I tried to solve
your "sticks and crosses". Unfortunately there were always 2 sticks left...

A little bit frustrated I started my training. 

And as fresh air began to blow my mind, there came up an idea...

... and soon after finishing my training and coming back from the shower, I sat down and solved it
during the next minutes.

I want to take the opportunity to remember an earlier posting, when we were
talking about pace calculation:

However - the fact, that Garmin isn't able to create a useful pace display, doesn't mean that GlobalSat should lean back
and forget this job !  Perhaps this is a chance to outperform the Garmin technique ?!

... on the other hand... there is an old saying... I don't remember right now... I will have to catch up on that...

In fact it was an old praying what I had in mind  and this is what it's like:

God, grant me the serenity,
To accept the things I cannot change;
The courage, to change the things that I can;
And the wisdom, to know the difference.

So - I think, this also applies to struggeling with pace calculation:
If it is not possible to provide a current pace... okay.
Maybe we have to accept this fact.

I think this is more or less the same, what Albert had in mind, when he
talked about slope calculation:

So if you can’t put the slope in forget it and implement it in the next generation together with a barometer.

For those, who do not like the religious impression of the above saying,
I have another version, which I like a little bit more and maybe sometimes
we should remember this during future discussions:
