I'm interested in the BR355 GPS module, but to make the interface neater I would like to just chop off the PS2 plug and solder on a RS232 plug.

Is this possible, or are the line levels wrong? I've got 5V pin available on this RS232 socket, and have done similar with Garmin units - is it possible on this unit?

Have you thought about getting an RS232 cableset instead of voiding the warranty by chopping the cable.  The cableset can be found here:  http://www.usglobalsat.com/p-228-br305-rs232-rs232-cable-set.aspx
