Hello,

I have a ND100 USB GPS, and I met a problem when I tried to update the firmware given here [http://www.usglobalsat.com/forum/index.php?topic=954.msg1486#msg1486],and now I can't connect to the gps (ie no more messages when reading data from the port.)

It is still recognized as Prolific Serial-to-USB Com Port when I plug it, but when I try to update the firmware with the last version, the update software now stay at 0% and freeze, or show an error message : connecting into kernel / waiting nak / Restart module and tool

The PC was connected with the gps at 38400 bauds, and I'm sure I have check my update baud rate at 38400 when updating, but now I try with with both 4800 and 38400 ( and different combinaison with the window port com configuration).

May I expect to unbrick the gps, or do you think it is definitvly off ?

Hello rychel,

First, uninstall the previous driver and install this one: http://www.usglobalsat.com/store/download/650/win_7_usb_driver.zip

Then, update the device's firmware again. You can download it from here: http://www.usglobalsat.com/store/download/650/nd100_update.zip

Next, uninstall the previous MiniCDU program and download this one: http://www.usglobalsat.com/store/download/650/minicdu.zip

Make sure to check that it's Version 1.0.3. You can do this by going to 'Help' > 'About'.

Now, try testing the ND-100 with the MiniCDU and GPSInfo. Let me know how it goes.

Hello Admin. Ty for the fast response.

At the moment i run the FW updater, http://www.usglobalsat.com/download/590/nd100_update.zip it gives me the following messages:

I Choose the COM4 port as my device manages indicates that is installed,
and Baud rate of 38400
-Auto Fw update (then i hit OK)
-FW Updateing now...
-Into Kernel Mode...
-Waiting NAK fail!
-Into Kernel Mode...
-Waiting NAK fail!
-Restart Module and tool!

What type of computer and operating system you used when you got this error?
Are you using the provided USB extension cable?
Does the blue LED stays solid or blinks?

I'm using a netbook Braview with Windows 7 Professional.
And not using the extension cable.... it was needed?   

anyway, the blue LED stays solid always....

The extension cable helps to extend the receiver away from the host device so that a GPS fix can be obtained.

Now, utilize the said cable and plug-in the ND-100. Bring your Netbook outside under an open sky and test the device with the GPSInfo program. Select the correct com port and baud rate and click on 'Start GPS'. Run the program for a few minutes to see if you're getting a 3D fix in 'Status'. Take note if the blue light is blinking.

If you're still encountering any errors, please include some screenshots. Let me know how it goes.

Hello Again!

Lets continue our odissey to make it on! 

I tryied to plug in with the extension cable and left it for some hours in a window and no response nor a blinking signal 

i take some screenshots to try to explain the actual situation clearly:


This is the COM port detected when the device is plugged.

Then i tryied to upgrade the FW following the instructions of the posts from before:







And following, is the MiniCDU program to test the connection.
I got no response. 
Erhm... please sorry about the crappy scratch i wrote at the last pic... its really rude maded heheheh

I have one question. Does it have a yellow packaging or a blue one? If it's yellow, the baud rate that you should use is the 38400, whereas the blue packaging should have a 4800 baud rate. To make sure what baud rate to use, look at the back of the packaging and you will see the Baud Rate under Electrical Characteristics.

As for the firmware update, just keep disconnecting and plugging in the ND-100 until you manage to update the firmware. By the way, have you tested it with the GPSInfo program?

Hello!

After some (lot) of time i could finally see the dongle flashing the light.
it flashed after i installed the new Win7 driver,

I tryied to update the firmware over and over again with no success. Anyway, the GPSInfo program showed me a newer screen data:


It was totally scrumbled 

And it only showed up on Baud Rate of 4800 to 14400.

Close the program and try testing the ND-100 with a different baud rate (38400). First, make sure that you're using the correct com port. You can do this by going to Start > right click on Computer > select Manage. Under System Tools, click on Device Manager and expand Ports in the right-hand side. You would see something like this: Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port (COMX)

Please install this GPSInfo program:(http://www.usglobalsat.com/store/download/62/vista_32bit_gps_info_utility.zip). Open up the program, choose the appropriate com port and select the said baud rate. Press Start GPS. Also, check if the LED of the device is blinking quickly.

i have got same problem.

when i try to install firmware it get sucks..

how can i reflash my device, i have 2 versions of FWUpdate,

AutoFWUpdate_ND100_V1.1(2).exe,
AutoFWUpdate_ND100

i tried all baud rates bu always giving STATUS_TIMEOUT from serial com port,

any advice?

i am using Hp Compaq cq series & Windows 7..
No i never used provided cable. is it neccessary??
LED Stay solid..

first i change baud rate 38600 with Mini CDU.
Then start Firmware update it connects usb, i check with serial monitor.
bu it nevers update... getting timeout
