Geo Caching
« on: September 13, 2010, 06:37:37 am »

Hi all,

it seems, that only a few geo-cachers are here in the forum. I myself also never did this
before. So, I do not have any experience with it and as far as I understood, geo-cachers
normally select other devices. But I don't understand why !

I think, there is only one thing missing in GH-505 (and 615/625 also):

I should be possible to enter GPS coordinates manually.

As far as I know, one idea of geo-caching is to solve some more or less complicated
questions (like no. of bridges passed, no. of trees on the hill and so on) an to enter
the results as part of coordinates for the next waypoint to navigate to.
And therefore it should be possible to enter the coordinates manually.

(And furthermore, this could be also useful not only for geo-caching.)

If there are any people interested in geo caching, please provide your comments.
Is this the only requirement ? Does is need more ?  What do you think ?

Regards, Hubert

Hi Hubert,

It is possible in navigation and then save waypoint, there you can edit the coordinates, the only thing we miss is the different method like UMT. ;)

Albert

Thank you Albert for this hint !  I didn't see that...

Since I use the very good Smart Track Back function I have never had a look at waypoints any more.
I just tested the editing of waypoints and it seems to work fine. Good to know !

Hi all,

Or it needs to show hints, information or direct to sync Geo-cache web to download puzzle?
Right now, it would show the nearby waypoints while in track back and GH-505, GH-561 also support UTM input. GH-625 has not enough memory to support...

Sincerely,

Geoffrey

This is a game of hide and seek around the world treasure. May impose a geocache treasure hunt in the world, to identify the location of GPS technology and distributes a line of treasure hunting, and location. Anyone with a GPS unit can then try to find the cache.

Hi Geoffrey,
I bought a 625-m.  I see it is sirfIII.  I assumed it would have ant implemented for that reason.  But I see it doesn't.  Is it possible for it to be implemented with a firmware upgrade?
cheers,
Mike

Dear Mike,

Thanks for using our product. We done the alogrithm for UTM, however, there is no memory space to put. :(

Sincerely,

Geoffrey
