Hello!

With a lot of fun i was reading this forum, what a nice device and a lot smaller then a Garmin Edge 800. If i understand it well it has the same functions as a Garmin Edge 800 and it is also possible to trackback routes... or isn't it?

There are only twe questions for me left..

* Is is possible to get the device in the Netherlands?
* What is the price of the device?

Kind regards,

Hello Pol87,

I hope my bicycle shop will sell them, in The Netherlands, if they come out.
The device is excellent in GPS and track back, what I use almost every day. Due to smart track it is normally easy to follow the track back. On the moment I use GH625, but GB 580 should be faster and more accurate in height due to barometer and GPS together. 8)
Price in The Netherlands I don't know, but lot less then Garmin 800. The first version is without geo maps, and will not be supplied later, But the next more advanced one will be, recording to GS, with maps and around €300,- with a lot better performance than Garmin. But the best thing they listen to there customers! :-*

Regards,

Albert

Dear Albert!

Thnx for the fast reply, hopefully they will be soon available in the netherlands, i'm looking forward to it, a price of 300 euro's is a price that it's worth. A Garmin Edge 800 costs around the 450/500 euro's and is a very large device. I think that isn't pretty on a mountainbike.

So if i understand everything allright it is also possible to load some tracks of i.e. (known for albert) www.mtbroutes.nl and follow them and save all the data of the GPS trip on the same time...?

Kind regards,

Yes, but you have to start the recording first, sometimes I forgot to start the training recording before I went to the navigation page.

Hello Geoffrey,

Good news, My local bike shop is willing to be dealer from the GB-580, but we need to know first if it is any good. The other things are where to get it for and from. Also he thus not want to buy to many in one go, because he is worried about the sails on Internet like with the Garmin devices.

If/when GB-580 will be as good as we expect, it will be available in Finland as well  :)

So, after testing I let you know where you are able to buy it from Finland.

Geoffrey,
Any estimate, are you ready with GB-580 on time (end of May) or is there some delay probable?

Hi Albert, Rookie,

Actually, our manufactory are going to assembly goods and we just wait the cadence/ speed to be coming. We will recruit testers by next two weeks.
For GB-580B, for sure it doesn't need any sensors, but I am not sure who will interest?

Sincerely,

Geoffrey

Hello Geoffrey,

The bike shop will be interested in the 580P because you want a competitor against the Garmin but better and cheaper!
I did offer the owner from the bike shop to explain all customer's how to use the device.
If (older) People can ride easy with only a track line it is not necessary to have HR belt but still needs a speed sensor because the GPS is really not capable to give steady speed (older) people don't mind to spent extra money but they like accurate readings.

Albert

Hi Albert,

It is highly appreciated for your support. Do you mean you have told them how to use GB-580P or GH-625?
Do you know what is the competitive price to competitors?

Sincerely,

Geoffrey

1e  Yes I did and they impressed about the possibility of the watch GH625, but they want of course the Bicycle computer
2e  There are a view competitors like Explova, Garmin and VDO, the last one is with SD card and maps. price in the shop €649,-
Explova will cost about €400,- incl. maps and SD card, good thing with the explova is the power comes from 3 AA battery's. Easy change, waterproof?
Without a map the price of GB-580P could sell for €140 or €150 but the shop has to pay less of course to take the service etc. and calculate the €150,- to the customers.

Hello Albert,

I don΄t belive 150 € for the P-Modell is realistic. The Ant+ sensors speed, cadence and heartrate have a market value around 70 € minimum.

Competive price for P-model with ANT+ cadence&speed sensor and HRM belt would be around 180€
Garmin Edge 500 Bundle (same set of accessories) cost is something from 200€ to 250€, depending shop, but it is big brand already and thats why it is more easier to sell.

Bit better product GH-580P and bit lower price make it wanted on market.

OK, I think you both are right. Only point is that HR for not sports people is ballast, but for the readings speed is necessary. I prefer HR as well and I suggested a long time a go all ready for basic price and a bundle price. So basic should be the device only for €140- €150 and the HR + speed/cadence total €185-€195 separate HR or speed/cadence €35,-. Important is the easy buy from the ad on products HR and speed/cadence, extra holder etc. So active product sales for the ad once is important.
