BC-337 on battery power -> no GPS fix
« on: February 23, 2011, 06:29:44 am »

Would appreciate your help>
I'm using a BC-337 on an HP IPAQ HX2490b running Windows Mobile 6.5
Receiver manages to pick up and fix GPS signal nicely when connected to AC power via the cradle.
On battery power, however, the IPAQ cannot make a fix at all even after prolonged time, although it does 'see' some 12 GPS satellites.

Any ideas what could be the problem here ?

I've reviewed all settings in WM, which seem okay, except perhaps the 'GPS program port' setting: I don't now which is the right port here. Hardware port is set to COM4 at 4800 baud, which is according to the manual.

Thanks, and Best Regards,
V.

We have a couple of questions for you:
Does the red light on the device blinks or stays steady on?
Does it have an access to an open sky (e.g. outside or near an open window)?
Also, have you tried pressing the Cold Start button?

To determine what com port is the device using, you can open up the GPSInfo and click on the drop-down list button in the Com Port field. Observe whether one of the com ports has this: CF_CARD_GENERIC. Leave the Baud Rate to 4800.
