TR-151 GPS Tracker FAQ

1.) Q: What are the device’s dimensions?
1.) A: The TR-151 physical dimensions are listed below;
Metric: 86.7 mm (Height) x 48.9 mm (Length) x 32.5 mm (Width)
Standard: 3.4 in. (Height) x 1.9 in. (Length) x 1.3 in. (Width)

2.) Q: What GSM module is utilized on this unit?
2.) A: The GSM module is a Siemens MC 56 GSM 850/1800/1900 (North America) or Siemens MC 56 GSM 900/1800/1900 (Europe).

3.) Q: What is the device’s operating temperature?
3.) A: The GPS’ operating temperature;
Internal power alimentation: -20 degrees to 55 degrees Celsius (-4 degrees to 131 degrees Fahrenheit).

Externally power alimentation: -20 degrees to 70 degrees Celsius (-4 degrees to 158 degrees Fahrenheit).

4.) Q: What is the device’s operating humidity?
4.) A: The GPS’ humidity is 5% to 95% Non-Condensing.

5.) Q: Is the TR-151 device water resistant?
5.) A: Yes it meets the IPX4 standards.

6.) Q: What are the basic TR-151 status indicators?
6.) A: The TR-151 status indicators include; charging, GPS, GSM, communication status.

7.) Q: How does the user know the TR-151 GSM status?
7.) A: The TR-151 status indicators include a GSM LED providing the user with voice monitoring status.  In addition, a SIM connection and validation status indicator is incorporated.

8.) Q: How does the user know the TR-151 GPS status?
8.) A: The TR-151 status indicators include a GPS LED providing the user with real-time satellite acquisition status.
Flashing = TR-151 has no satellite fix
Steady = TR-151 has not acquired a satellite fix.
Off = TR-151 GPS function has been disabled.

9.) Q: What are the battery’s specifications?
9.) A: The rechargeable battery specifications are 2100 mAh Li-Ion.

10.) Q: What is the indication that battery is full (how long it should be charged)?
10.) A: The “Amber” power LED activates upon the AC charging adapter being connected to the TR-151 unit. Upon battery reaching full charging capacity, the “Amber” power LED turns off. When battery charge is low, the “Amber” power LED will change to “Red”.

11.) Q: How is the operation time of TR-151? If the battery is fully charged, how long can I use it?
11.) A: The power consumption rate varies with mode settings, GPS signal strength, and GSM signal strength. However, average power consumption times are listed below with good GPS and GSM signal receptions.

12.) Q: How does the user know the TR-151 Battery status?
12.) A: The TR-151 status indicators include a Battery status LED providing the user with battery status.
ORANGE = Battery Low
ORANGE = Charging
OFF = Fully charge

13.) Q: What are the TR-151 external user interface features?
13.) A:  The TR-151provides users with a Power and S.O.S. buttons.

14.) Q: Is there a TR-151 data port?
14.) A: The TR-151 is equipped with a mini-USB port serving for both PC data communication and battery power alimentation.

15.) Q: What is the device’s antenna type?
15.) A: The GPS is equipped with a Patch Antenna type.

16.) Q: Is their an external antenna connectivity?
16.) A: Yes. The TR-151 incorporates an MMCX external antenna port design.

17.) Q: Is the TR-151 equipped with a microphone?
17.) A: Yes. The TR-151 is equipped with a microphone for voice monitoring usage.

18.) Q: What are the TR-151external user interface/ status features?
18.) A: The TR-151external user interface/ status features include; Power/ S.O.S. buttons and GSM/ GPS/ Status/ Power LED indicators.   

19.) Q: What are the GPS chipset technical specifications?
19.) A: The on-board GPS chipset specifications are provided below:

20.) Q: What is the device’s default datum?
20.) A: The GPS’ default datum is WGS-84.

Call Center Questions

1.) Q: When trying to set-up the TR-151 with the Call Center, I get a “TR-151 com port error”?
1.) A: This is most likely caused because the TR-151 has not been put into setup mode.  To do this, simply turn the device off, open the battery compartment, and turn the #3 dip switch to the “on” position.  When you turn the device on, you should see the status indicator come on solid. Now connect device to pc and try again.

2.) Q:  Must I include the area code when inputting phone numbers in the call center?
2.) A:  Yes, when inputting phone numbers, be sure they are in the following format: 5555555555.

3.) Q:  I don’t know my GPRS settings (apn, username, password, dns).  Where can I find these?
3.) A:  The carrier of the SIM card that is installed in the TR-151 will have these settings.  However, if you purchased a T-mobile SIM from USGlobalsat, the settings are:
GPRS apn: m2m.t-mobile.com
The username, password, dns settings should remain blank.

4.) Q:  When I get a status report, it states “GPS not fixed”?
4.) A:  It is recommended, a 1-3 hour battery removal allowing a device reset.

5.) Q:  Can you update the firmware on the TR-151?
5.) A:  Yes, in the Call Center, under the management tab you will have the option to “update the TR151 firmware”

6.) Q: Do I need to setup a GPRS server host name in the setup page for the TR-151? What does this name mean? Do we have to use it?
6.) A: GPRS Server Host Name is the server machine that the TR-151 will connect via GRPS. This must be the same machine that has the Call Center from which the TR-151 was programmed. You need to enter its Static IP (for example 202.43.196.12) or its Host Name
(for example www.tmobile.com.su).

7.) Q: As we setup APN, destination IP and phone number in GPRS setup page to TR-151, can we connect TR-151 to our server via GPRS?
7.) A: You must enter either the Server IP or its host name in the GPRS Server Host Name field. When TR-151 connects to GPRS, it will link to the specified Call Center through a designated TCP port. This port must be opened in the server remote site.  By default, this port is 5000, but you can choose any port between 1024-5000. For details, please refer to TR-151 GPRS Access command document. Lastly, you are required to trigger TR-151 to connect to internet via GPRS by calling it or send it a SMS message.

8.) Q: Not sure how I could send additional settings since I am not seeing it
in the list.  Can these settings be sent another way maybe?
8.) A: There are 3 ways to setup your device: 1) In the Call Center setup page, 2) In GPRS through Call Center or Skype, 3) by sending SMS commands from a cell phone.

9.) Q: If the internet connection is started, how long does it take to display this status on the PC application?
9.) A: Approximately, 10 to 20 seconds from achieving the GPRS connection to the internet displaying status in the Call Center.

10.) Q: How does the PC application find the TR-151 in the field without a known IP address?
10.) A: First, you are required to connect TR-151 to the Call Center PC via USB connection. Second, perform the necessary unit configurations. Thus, TR-151 gets the IP address information of the Call Center PC. Next, the Call Center PC will attain TR-151 IMEI information. When the TR-151 achieves Internet GPRS connection, it will communicate the required connections to the Call Center. Upon completion, the Call Center will accept the connection through the valid registered IMEI.

11.) Q: Do we need SIM cards with fixed IP addresses?
11.) A: The TR-151 can use a standard SIM (Voice and Data) card where GPRS function is typically activated. In reference to our document, the “IP address” is defined as the PC IP address, in which, the Call Center program is installed requiring a “fixed” IP address. Note, the IP address has no relations to the TR-151’s SIM card.
