To increase motivation for the 625xt user in the firmware we could create a yasso interval training preset where you just have to enter you desired marathon time and got your interval workout automatically set.
Yasso 800s:
Yasso 800s were invented by Bart Yasso, who has run more than 50 marathons and ultramarathons. Because of their simplicity, Yasso 800s have proven popular and useful for marathoners worlwide. Basically, Bart says that if you want to run a marathon in 2:45, 3:29 or 4:11, you should train to the point where you can run 10 repeats of 800 meters in the same time 2:45, 3:29 or 4:11. The only difference is that your marathon time is hours:minute and your 800 time is minutes;seconds. Ref: Runners Ally iphone app.
And when you consult your activity workout (in running - multi-sport section) you could include a prediction time for this activity like quote in runners world calculator:
These times are projected equivalents and are not a guarantee of performance or final race distance times.
The Distance Finish Times calculator calculates a predicted time at a distance for you based on a time you provided for another distance. It uses the formula T2 = T1 x (D2/D1)1.06 where T1 is the given time, D1 is the given distance, D2 is the distance to predict a time for, and T2 is the calculated time for D2.
The formula was developed by Pete Riegel and published first in a slightly different form in Runner's World, August 1977, in an article in that issue entitled "Time Predicting." The formula was refined for other sports (swimming, bicycling, walking,) in an article "Athletic Records and Human Endurance," also written by Pete Riegel, which appeared in American Scientist, May-June 1981.
Example, if I have run a half marathon in 1:30, when I consult my activity on my watch If I click on "prediction", I see this:
Based on a half marathon race at 01:30:00, your projected finish times for the following distances should be:
1500m 5:28
the mile 5:53
3000m(3k) 11:24
3200m(about 2 miles) 12:12
5000m(5k) 19:35
8000m(8k) 32:13
5 miles 32:25
10,000m(10k) 40:49
ten miles 1:07:36
a half marathon 1:30:00
a marathon 3:07:39
I think both method would have for result to increase motivation for the runner/user/consumer.
What you think?
PS
I know there is different opinion whether yasso works or not. Some say it works if your FC stays the same during the running interval. But the main reason to include this in the watch is to find tricks to increase motivation in athletes/ watch users. After all it's an interval training like another...
