- Change pages layout: If you go into the user pages the up and down key should page through the user pages until you press OK. Starting the recording should be made automatic and saving the data could be done by ESC key. The OK works than like the GH625 and you go through the other pages in a cycle.

IMHO I think accessing main menu while keeping the button pressed during 2 sec. is very fluid and does work fine!

But starting activity, stopping it and resetting it should be done, like all gs watches, with OK button (start stop activity) and esc button (reset activity). The arrow buttons "<-, ->" should only be use IMHO to navigate in the watch. And, of course, the right arrow buttons "->/LAP" to trigger lap.

I tink the more we concentrate functions on ESC and OK, the more the device become intuitive. Arrows buttons are just there to complement -no signifiant functions other then navigate (in the main menu and in the activity pages) and triggering lap". 

But I still think it's a firmware error that make stop and start buttons inverted!

It seems 1% difference. I am not sure it comes GPS accuracy imitation, but it is acceptable.

Aha. I thought the entire display needed to be exchanged to a lighter grey to get better contrast.

Ok. Maybe you should correct the image in the manual as both way are installed in the handlebar. A little error but might not be so important after all...

In My Humble Opinion, the less you have to play with different buttons on the device, the more it become intuitive. If you can set the majority of the functions on only two buttons, you have been successful. I have some ideas but think the first step is to do this. If you don't do this you are using too much buttons... IMHO

Before giving all my ideas concerning buttons pattern, I want to know what others beta think of that. I personally think that it's obvious to do this, like you did on your watches. Why being different???

To me intuitive mean logical and efficient. IMO actual pattern is not. I'll explain whyI think side buttons are inverted from the first day I tried it.

A logical way of thinking is to put main access functions buttons the highest possible and the navigation button in the lower part of the device. So the importance of the buttons decrease from the top to the bottom.This is for the logical part.

For the efficiency part, IMO, you have to concentrate on a main button -ESC button-, have a secondary button -OK button- and the rest of the buttons. Like I said, the less you use different buttons for main functions, the more it become efficient.

So we end up with something like this.



As you realize it makes the device text inverted ( I applied mirror effect).
So instead of remanufacturing everything you could send a front face sticker for girls and guys like me who prefer accessing main function by the top. But those who wish main function at the bottom could let it like it is...(without sticker).


I also put lap lap on esc button to be true to all gs-sport device and stays on the same logic. IMO split and escape buttons fit well together (in my head it's logic).

...It's arrived! I received my GB-580B Sample today. Here are my first impression. Good looking product! Like the high resolution display! Unboxing the device - relvealed a surprise to me (maybe I just haven't been reading this forum thorough enough). The entry model (GB-580B) does not come with a heart rate monitor. I think many bike-riders will miss this feature. If you - as a cyclist should choose between the GB-580B and e.g. the GH625M (or maybe Garmin 305), they will get HRM with the GPS watches. Its hard for me to see which arguments should sell the GB580 in comparison to these.

Well, I'll take it for a ride tomorrow - It will be interesting to compare it to my GH625. I'll let you know how I did.

Hi Canadian,

To group the keys regarding functionality is good idea and we are going to toward this direction. Just a question, to press ESC 2 seconds will turn off device. This is problem we can't group them.

The "mph" means meter per hour, it often use for height calculation.
