What about GH-625XT Track Back function?.
« on: August 21, 2011, 02:33:58 am »

Hello,
I was facing a lot of issue regarding GH625M smart track back function.. Could you provide me detail on GH-625XT and regarding the "Track back" function..

My concern is to know if this function allows to exacty follow a track transfered from PC to Device.
I Need to know if all the points are drawn (expecially in low scales as 5 / 10 /20 / 100 meters and if the displayed track is oriented with the track direction..
This will allow to take any track from a dedicated site, follow it .. and enjoy it.
As I have to buy another device, this info will be really helpfull..
=> see : http://www.usglobalsat.com/forum/index.php?topic=3864.0  :-(
Thanks a lot for any info . Alain.

Hi Alian,

I went throught the past topics, i tihink GH-625XT can satisfy you.
We add orizention on Map, fast display and route setting which includes Switch Distance and Auto JUMP. So that it will swich to the close point when you face the cross. So you will happy on Track Back and your training.
We also implement interval training, self trainng and muti-sports functions. for sure, it is SirF IV, high performance GPS chipset.
The price is also very interesting. ;)

Sincerely,

Geoffrey

There is another very interesting thread in the GH625 forum. Did you read this also ?
http://www.usglobalsat.com/forum/index.php?topic=3864.msg10535#msg10535

Here Alain came up with the problem of "too few points in track back route".

I have used track back a lot of times and I agree to what he said. I had to face all the problems
he described. However - I used track back mostly during hiking and because of low speed it
was more or less okay.  But when I used track back for running, it became more a problem
and I'm sure for biking it will be a real problem.

I think the suggestions and ideas made in the above thread are worth to discuss and it
would be nice, if you could read it and discuss with your engineers if they could find a
solution. If not possible for GH625, then maybe for GB-580 or for GH625XT.

Thank you and best regards,

Hubert

Hello TWG_TECH4 .. Thanks a lot for your repply and for the good new..
If you did the improvement! This is wonderfull..
I will be happy to test it and also to report the result..
I would like to become a tester to be able to check the result of your job.. I would like to make comparaison with other devices (I have GH625 but also Garmin Edge 305 and I can get Forerunner® 310XT from a friend).. Ready to write a deep comparaison on this feature. Anyway If feature is OK, I will buy the watch for sure..
Hello Hubert.. Thanks for reading my post.. and tks to re-enforce my request..
So basically GH625 could have some improvement (even low chips  power).. Using smart routine.. but GH625 will never containt map orientation.  From WG_TECH4 post 625XT will have everything needed... I am really happy with the answer, and would like to test yet. This will kill similar product if this function is well designed (example : Garmin 310XT don't have this capability and is still with SirF3)..
Hello canadien.. am I missing something.. why do you want to delete this thread?.. What's mean : I will delete it again tomorrow to be sure Geoffrey sees it..
Don't erase please!!! This is free job from my side!.. ;-)

Hi Hubert, Alain,

I did a read on this topic. I found Track Back is appropriated for the person walking back along the trace; it is not appropriated with higher speed due to its algorithm. The trace is following the previous record which recorded by every second and it density is too high. Now it is the same case with GH-625XT.

We are finding out the scenario to make it works in more cases and now we will open the rout planning by PC software. You can download your workout to PC Software and download it to device as a route. You will play it with fun.

For sure, GH-625XT has replant the all functions from GH-505 with more enhancement. Likes SirFIV, 120,000 points, 24 hrs battery life..

Sincerely,

Geoffrey

Hi Geoffrey,

Hello Hubert, Zingo, Albert,

Right now we have finished "Superior Smart Track Back" into GH-625XT.
It will automatically compress the training within 200 points at 50m interval distance and turn angel 20 degree.

The trace line is also wider as well as interjunction point. The guiding will be more accurate without problem. ;) We are testing and will release soon.

Sincerely, Geoffrey
I'm really eager to see what you created with "Superior Smart Track Back" and I would like to test it
during one of my first tests with GH-625XT. Can you tell, when it will be available ?

Regards, Hubert

Canadien,
Are you trying to tell us that maps would be possible in next version of track back "Superior Smart Track Back"?!?!?!  :o

That would be very big improvement!!!

Hi canadien, Rookie, Geoffrey (and all others...)

Hubert have you take a look at this thread?
http://www.usglobalsat.com/forum/index.php?topic=3920.0
Yes - I have seen this thread and I also had a look at the website.
But I do not believe, that the features shown there have something to do with what
Geoffrey announces as "Superior Smart Track Back".

This would really be a big improvement. But this is not what Geoffrey said.

Please don't be disappointed, but Geoffrey just said:
Quote

The trace line is also wider as well as interjunction point. The guiding will be more accurate without problem.
I'm not sure what I means exactly: 200 points instead of what ? I guess it was something like more than 100 ?
What does turn angel 20 degree exactly mean ?
And "trace line wider" ? And "interjunction point" ?

I just cannot imagine how it should look like. And therefore I would like to see and test it.
(and I don't expect a map).

No, I'm not disappointed, but I was a moment in the heaven. I have to get back down to earth.

Rookie, Hubert,

Not a long ago (about two weeks) Geoffrey spoke of implementing a feature that allow to import satellite route for track back and it was not on quecha thread. Somewhere in the forum...

Edit:

I am mixing up STB function and route waypoint with map.
