Yeah they do have the version with a heart rate monitor, but it's $70 more! I'll probably just get the Garmin one from Amazon.
Is the heart rate monitor the only difference between the F and P version?

You get speed and cadence sensor as well. The Garmin 500 is more expensive and track routes are not very stable. They stop or the device hangs. See on there forum. This little device is very good, trackback is reliable and good to follow. The best thing is the support from Globalsat, they listen to there customers.

Welcome to the forums! The only difference between the P and F version of the GB-580 is that the F version has the Heart Rate Monitor. Please refer below:

Like what canadien said earlier, any ANT+ heart rate monitor should be able to work with the GB-580. Or, if you want to purchase directly from us, you could send an email to our Sales Department (sales@usglobalsat.com) to get the pricing and availability of the GB-580 HRM.

@Albert: I was talking about getting the Garmin heart rate strap not the Garmin 500. I already ordered the 580P!

Depending on how the GPS works for me, a couple of my friends might get the GB-580 too. A lot more affordable than the overpriced Garmin 500.
