I tested it yesterday and focused barometer and slope function at first.

I set slope calculation first to Middle and it looks work pretty nice. Then I set it to Fast but I didn't see any major difference between these settings. In both cases slope comes after little delay, but most important thing is that now this seems work very well.
Before this new firmware I didn't see any slope value when I ride same kind of routes, now it show values and I think it is even quite reliable.

Menus is now very clear to read because of background change.

Now I doing battery test (working at window) and it is ran over 15 hours so far without any warning about battery. Let's see how long it stil continue.

So, I have to say that this first look was very positive. Thanks for this, very good work. :)

Next time I focus trackback and autozoom. This is more interested part of new firmware.

I hope that I can do next ride soon. Last ride I fall with my mtb on tarmac and hurt my knee little bit. :'( Luckily not any bigger damage, only bit painful leg when walk or touch it, maybe riding is still ok.
And what is most important, bike and GB-580P is still all right.  ;)

Hi Rookie,

Hope your hurt got recovery quickly.
And thanks for detail test.
Since GB-580P uses barometer to come out slope, so the slope is not big different.
Last weekend, I have tested 2pcs GB-580P battery life under 3D fix with training, the time both are 22:45:00. Improve 3 hours.
You may have a experience on Track Back next time and now we are going to improve trainer and route navigation.

Sincerely,

Geoffrey

Hi Sascha,

Thanks for test. What does it mean "clock" hasn't made as page option?

Hi Geoffrey,

what Sascha means, is to be able to select the actual time (not stopwatch) in the custom configuration of the fields.  ;)

Best regards

Knee wasn't so bad anymore and I was able to do next test ride. We got first snow today and there was clear weather, -1 degrees outside, pike tires under my mtb, what would be better than bike ride? OK, I know one, but lets focus sport activities.

I tested now trackback function, here is some comments about it.

1. Auto zoom worked very fine and smooth. But 1000m zoom is absolutely too wide for cycling. Now slower speed areas <5km/h and 5-10km/h there is about next 15-20 second (20-50m) visible on map which is quite ok. But if you ride 31km/h you see about next 2 minutes (1km) which mean that you can't recognize any details on route anymore. I propose that speed areas and zoom levels would be something like this.
< 5 km/h zoom 20 m
5-10 km/h zoom 50 m
10-20 km/h zoom 100 m
20-40 km/h zoom 200 m
40-60 km/h zoom 500 m
> 60 km/h zoom 1000 m

2. Triangle ponter was much better than old, but it would be better if it is bigger. Also pointer location (your current location) should be lower on map. Now pointer is middle of map and you see as much past and comming route. Past route is not interested on tarckback function, so past route not need be there visible so much.

3. Autojump function is not cleare for me anymore. What it shoud do and what distance mean on settings.
I wondering this because I skipped some part of my route and I tough that autojump contunue again from next trackpoint when reach it, but in my case today it direction pointer sticky point to skipped trackpoint. I wait very long ride and I was almost 10km away from those skipped points and it still point arrow to them??? After manually browsed to correct trackpoint it start work again.

4. Trackpoints should be more. Now in quite straight part of routes next trackpoint could be 1, 2 or more kilometers ahead and actual route turn little by little and finally you can be very far from route which is showed on map. When route will be created there must be also check after eg. every 200m if there is turned x degrees in last 200m. I think that there is currently check if you are turned in shorter distance, but this not work if you turn little by little during longer distance, right?

Even I sound negative, overall firmware is much better than old in all areas which were in scope. So, good job so far, but few things to get better.

Hello Rookie and others,

one thing I like to say, track back  is the much better than I ever hat. Thanks for the team that did it.
One thing I need for me and new users: Essential to have is please wait,  in the clock/date screen if you press the [OK] button, there you donít know if you pressed the button hard enough   when you came from the user pages. I pressed the [OK] button again after 3 sec and came out at the compass instead of map, and this happened more times. I loaded 83 km and the calculation takes much more time then the early versions, so it looks it is doing nothing while it is calculating and building the map.

I like the zoom as it  is now, but for me above 30 km it could stay on 500m I agree with that. Like Phil in another tread, I like to have control to zoom, maybe every time you hold the up or down button longer than 3 sec it go's one scale up or down.

I agree, did asked this a long time ago.

Yes you right, but there only 200 points now, so better to have them on really important points than trying to be 100% on the original track. Specially if the track is > 90 km you need all 200 to be sure you don't miss junctions due to to less points.

I did not try [no auto jump], but I did made a short cut and, like before, I manually pressed the up button until the distance go's from more to low and after this to more again. this way you know the point is in front of you.

with regards,

Albert.
