The main difference between the BR-355 and BR-355-S4 is the chipset. The BR-355 has the SiRFStarIII chipset; whereas, the S4 version is using SiRFStarIV. You can find more information about the units by looking at their product pages:

There is no datasheet for S4, and there is no any information about differences...

What is the benefit of Sirfstar4 chipset corelated to S3?
