Auto power off - what exactly is turned off?
« on: April 02, 2012, 06:28:38 pm »

When the 368i goes into power save mode, what exactly is turned off? Is just the GPS receiver turned off and the bluetooth radio left on? Or are both off? If both are off, what happens when the unit is connected to a power source? Will the bluetooth or GPS radios turn back on automatically, or is it necessary to press a button or toggle a switch to turn things back on?

Also, what happens if the unit is continuously connected to a power source? Does the auto power off still kick in if no bluetooth connection is active for 10 minutes while the unit is plugged in?

Auto-shut off feature means that the BT-368 will turn itself off after 10 minutes of inactivity (not connected/used by any software), regardless if the GPS is operating from its internal Li-ion battery or connected to an external power source. It means the unit completely powered down and both Bluetooth and GPS LEDs are off. It does not turn on automatically even though the device is still paired with a host device. That's why you have to manually press the Power On button to turn it on and be able to use it with a NMEA-compliant software.

Let me know if you have any questions.
