This is a great list of improvements for the firmware. I would add to the list: Fahrenheit display option for temperature. Celsius is not common in the US.

I have a question about the display order of the Activity names. Here's the scenario. I have a 1200 km event broken into 10 segments. I read the kml files into TGP in order of their occurrence on the route. Each time I read the data into TGP they get a date/time applied to them. I understand that. I immediately upload to my 580P and the names remain the same as in TGP. I understand that. What I don't understand is why the activity list in my 580P does not display in the order in which they were uploaded. I would expect them to be displayed in time order since that's the only difference in the names. They seem to be displayed randomly. The time/date designation is very difficult to use in the first place, but having them out of order makes it extremely difficult for me to use them in order of their occurrence on my route. Is there a way for me to change the display order of the Activities in the 580P?

Alos, the issue is because I have 10 activity files. They represent a 1200 km ride broken into 10 pieces. I'm riding the entire 1200k route, but I would (ultimately) like to name the activities Leg1, Leg2, Leg3, etc. But, what I have is 10 files with date/time stamps. They were uploaded to my 580 in order of their Leg and the times indicate that. But, when I look at those 10 activity files in my 580, they are not in "Time" order. They are in a random order. This means that I need to somehow correlate that silly time/date name to a specific leg of the route on which I'm riding. Does that make sense?

I had the same problem. I use Sporttracks 3.1 and you can read en write to the GB580P in GPX format with in the GB580 also the distance etc. This is with the plugin from Gerhard (thanks for that). It is free if you only use 3 plugins, more will cost you a registration and $35,- .
I did the following: Took a date before the actual ride and stored the files separate under different times e.g. 0600; 0700; 0800 etc. until the 12 rides are having all the different  times. later you want to record as well the later date from the recording thus than not confuse you which file to take. Set recording time on 9 sec. ore higher. and you can go for more then 10 days.

First I should say that I really like the unit for its abilities and price but to be honest, as a strictly Mac user it is pretty useless to me.  I can't do anything with it other than see the data as I ride so the GPS abilities are worthless.  I'm not even sure if I can update the firmware?  As a mountain biker not having auto start/stop with the wheel is a huge pain.  I don't think I've completed a ride yet where I've remembered to re-start it each time I've stopped.

I'm using the GB-580 for Mountain biking too - and i've configured it so is starts/stops automatically - not by wheel - but by gps-position. I cant remember where this configuration is done - maybe some of the other guys here can help.

If you don't pair the speed sensor you still can use AUTO PAUSE go for that to MENU (OK >3 SEC.) ACTIVITY--->SETTINGS---> AUTO PAUSE  and choose custom speed to set your time you want it to auto pause. Remember that closer to zero the computer will start sometimes due to GPS misreading in the woods. If you use speed sensor and the computer stays on the bike you can have low custom speed because it looks for the wheel.

Great thanks guys!  I guess my only concern is how accurate it is without the wheel sensor?  While I can see road riding being ok with the GPS, MTB'ing could loose the signal more frequently and miss much of my route as well.

Hi, you neednīt be afraid to loose GPS-fix. The receivers in GS-Products are very reliable, already in the forest (except GH-505).
