BU-353 Windows Vista Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) issue

This problem can be solved by going to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Device Manager > double click on Ports > Right Click on Prolific USB-to-Serial> Properties > Port Settings > Change Flow Control to Hardware then > Select Advanced > Change both buffers to 1.

Another thing that you could do is to adjust the Power Settings on your computer. Please follow the instructions below:

In Windows XP, click on the Start button and select Control Panel.
In the Control Panel window, go to Performance and Maintenance and choose Power Options.
In the Power Options window and under power scheme, select Never for all fields: Turn off monitor, Turn off hard disks, and System standby.
Click the Apply button and click OK.

For Windows Vista/7, click on the Start button and select Control Panel.
In the Control Panel window, go to System and Security and choose Power Settings.
The Power Settings window should come up.
Configure the highlighted options to Never as shown below:
