I have owned a GB 580 P for some time now and it has given me faultless service. Unfortunately it has been droped one too many times, causing the casing to open and the GPS antenna to break away. On closer inspection the wire soldered to the antenna has broken off. I am enquiring about how to get a new antenna so i can replace the broken one. The rest of the unit is functioning.

Hello,

Welcome to the forums!

Unfortunately, we don't have this antenna available since we do not sell this specific item. Also, we don't recommend fixing the device by yourself since this would void the warranty.

However, if you want to do this at own your risk, you can possibly inquire with the Germany Service Center (http://www.gs-sport-servicecenter.de.vu/) and check if they're selling this specific item.

Let me know if you have any questions.

My unit that i got about 5months ago also no longer receives a gps signal.  I wonder if there was something with regard to a batch produced during that time frame?

Hi guys,

since I cant reassemble the bike-computer I dont have any spareparts like mainboard or GPS-antenna. I have some casings but up to now I never have done a service for GB-580. Im afraid I cant reassemble it with guaranteed waterproofness.

Best regards

Longjog

Yup.  Same issue here.  I've had the 580P for just over a year (3 weeks out of warranty) and suddenly it can't lock to any satellites anymore.  Is this a software issue, or is there an issue with the hardware?

Fixed it myself.

My 580P was out of warranty and I'm impatient.  It's basically the antenna lead wire that gets detached due to a poor solder joint (very little solder).

The symptoms is:
Unit is powered on, stays on the "Locating Satellites" screen with the progress bar cycling from 0% to approximately 5% (hard to tell since no number progress is shown).

I never dropped my unit, but while I was out riding today, I crossed a set of railway tracks and lost the GPS signal.  Hard reset (hold power button for 10 sec), factory reset, gps reset when prompted all do not help.  Firmware version 1.03 or 1.04 update will not help.  The only thing that will fix this is to send it back for repair... unless you want to risk opening it yourself which I don't recommend unless you know what you are doing.

In your mind what is a GPS jammer and what can it do to help you? Only when you are in the situation that the GPS jammer is need you will understand how important and useful such kind of device is. Gaining more knowledge of the device? Just start and then you will have access to the best GPS jammer.

Dear All,

our engineers have some questions below :

1. your GB-580P firmware is GB-580P Firmware-F-GGB-2O-1305232.GHX (V2.00) ??

2. Did your device still lose GPS signal even you under Open sky ??

Please tell us more detail what situation to happen this problem ??
then we can try to duplicate that ~

Hello Angela
1. Yes have the F-GGB-2O-1305232.GHX firmware

2. I used the GPS in the past Saturday, I did 120 km with it and it worked well.
The route finished 120km from my home.
On Wednesday (in my house) I turned on the GPS to go cycling, but did not detect any satellite.
I was in open sky.
I turned off the gps waited a few seconds and then reconnected, but it didnt worked. I did this three times.

I did factory reset and kept the same problem, reinstalled the firmware and still the same.

The battery is 90%

I have the GPS enabled, but the information appears weak signal (in open sky)
Everything else works fine.

1. The problem remains, does not detect any satellite.
2. I waited until 10 minutes stopped. I walked around for 1 hour with the GPS on and did not detect any satellite. At the end was still 10 minutes more and still the problem persisted.
3.The problem has never happened before

Thanks
