Optimal cadence for running?
« on: July 10, 2012, 02:58:14 am »

People who read magazines say that the optimal cadence for running is somewhere around 180 steps per minute.
Pulse is also around 160-180 when running.

Could it be that that running in sync with your heart is a good idea? The entire body in the same pulse in some holistic way? The movement in sync with the heart helping blood to transport optimally?

Guess I have to run wearing a stethoscope. Better than a walkman anyway. :-)

Have a good day!

Hi Anders,
you are jokeing :).

160-180 steps per minute is fine. Its synchronous with your arm oscillation. The angle of your ellbow should be smaller 90 degrees at every time. Work active on your arm oscillation and you will pace your step-frequency.

Best regards

No. :-)  I'm serious.
Tried running with 2 fingers on my aorta for a little while trying to sync my legs to the pulse. Fun.
Will try a little longer next time.

 :) :) :)
