my Globalsat died!
« on: August 01, 2012, 04:17:28 pm »

Unfortunately, my Globalsat GH 625m no longer works.

The battery charger does not work anymore and the cable was wrong with a contact, the contacts were broken in the watch.

Last, the display in charge mode not display anything but only pixel on the screen ligh in random mode. I have tryied to disconnect the cable from the GH 625M but the display rest light with the pixel on. After I have opened the watch to disconnect the battery connector to light off the display...

Now I am  are without GH 625m GPS and a marathon to prepare without my trusty watch to give me time and distance useful to get prepared for the race.

If You want my Globalsat GH625M dead to study for understand the problems with cable, connector 4 pins down the watch and the problem with the recarge mode I can ship them...

...This watch have worked very well in this years but this dead I not accept, because Globalsat is a serious companion and this GH625M did not have to die so.

What were the results after you disconnect the battery wire/connector and put it back?

Can you please post some screenshots for the broken contacts and the pixel on the screenlight in random mode? So, we would clearly see the issue that you have with the watch.

I found the problem with my Globalsat GH625M, a power cord disconnected   :-\

unfortunately there is no way to attack it or weld it to its connector.

Tell some solution that is not very expensive.

There should be a way to weld it. Why are you saying you can't?

unfortunately it is not possible to solder the wires because the connector is embedded in the glue that makes a seal around it.

Meanwhile, this problem does not allow me to recharge the battery, so I can not confirm the problems blocking the display.

I think that changing the wires black and red with a couple more resistant to vibration of the GH625 race would be more durable.

Hi,

maybe this watch only needs a new bottomcase (including cables with connector), recharging the battery and a factory-reset.
If you live in Europe I can try to help.

Best regards

Hi, thanks for all that my Globalsat GH 625 M did until worked fine. I do not want to spend money to send it in for service and meet up with other problems later.
The GH 625 M has only 2 wires disconnected and power are the ones that go from the external connector within the circuit (black and red wires).
I'm sorry to throw it away so I prefer to give my GH 625 M to those in need of spare parts.
I ask only refund of shipping.
Contact me on this forum.

Bye.

Hi neuropolaris,

Do not throw your watch away!

I have a new back watch laying here for you I can sell to you low price.

The only problem you can encounter is that you will have to remove the speaker from your watch
and glue it on my new part. Speaker is situated under the battery which is stick on the backwatch by a double side tape. When I applied heat from my soldering iron on the speaker it eventually come off by itself
It is preferable than to remove it with a knife or screwdriver and risk to torn it apart.

Try it and if you successfully remove your speaker than you have nothing to loose to take my part.

Hi Canadien,

the beeper is fixed with non thermolabil glue. New bottom-casings come with beeper. If back-casing is changed, you need to solder the red and the black cable on the mainboard.
