I have owned a GB 580 P for some time now and it has given me faultless service. Unfortunately it has been droped one too many times, causing the casing to open and the GPS antenna to break away. On closer inspection the wire soldered to the antenna has broken off. I am enquiring about how to get a new antenna so i can replace the broken one. The rest of the unit is functioning.

Hello,

Welcome to the forums!

Unfortunately, we don't have this antenna available since we do not sell this specific item. Also, we don't recommend fixing the device by yourself since this would void the warranty.

However, if you want to do this at own your risk, you can possibly inquire with the Germany Service Center (http://www.gs-sport-servicecenter.de.vu/) and check if they're selling this specific item.

Let me know if you have any questions.

My unit that i got about 5months ago also no longer receives a gps signal.  I wonder if there was something with regard to a batch produced during that time frame?

Hi guys,

since I canīt reassemble the bike-computer I donīt have any spareparts like mainboard or GPS-antenna. I have some casings but up to now I never have done a service for GB-580. Iīm afraid I canīt reassemble it with guaranteed waterproofness.

Best regards

Longjog

Yup.  Same issue here.  I've had the 580P for just over a year (3 weeks out of warranty) and suddenly it can't lock to any satellites anymore.  Is this a software issue, or is there an issue with the hardware?

Fixed it myself.

My 580P was out of warranty and I'm impatient.  It's basically the antenna lead wire that gets detached due to a poor solder joint (very little solder).

The symptoms is:
Unit is powered on, stays on the "Locating Satellites" screen with the progress bar cycling from 0% to approximately 5% (hard to tell since no number progress is shown).

I never dropped my unit, but while I was out riding today, I crossed a set of railway tracks and lost the GPS signal.  Hard reset (hold power button for 10 sec), factory reset, gps reset when prompted all do not help.  Firmware version 1.03 or 1.04 update will not help.  The only thing that will fix this is to send it back for repair... unless you want to risk opening it yourself which I don't recommend unless you know what you are doing.
