I recently flashed to this new firmware. Now, I noticed my 580p has a hard time getting a lock on satellites.  Anyone else notice this problem with the new firmware?  Thx.

I followed your link and registered my 580p.  With the v1.04， I had to wait for a few minutes and reset GPS once before I can get a lock.  I flashed back to v1.03 and the unit had a lock in less than 5 seconds every time I turn it on.  I don't think the problem is my 580p.

Not seeing any differences, no thorough tests done. ((I have done many types of tests but putting the device in the exact same spot using a stopwatch and noting weather and other factors is not on my schedule.)
The first time after updating it is natural that lock takes longer time, after that there should be no differences.

Perhaps, you could go outside with a clear access to an open sky with no tall trees or buildings around, in order for the device to 'see' the satellites. You could also make sure that the WAAS/EGNOS and GPS settings are enabled (set to ON by going to Main Menu > Configuration > GPS Setting).

Another thing that you could try is to do a Cold Start. You can do this by pressing the POWER, OK, and DOWN buttons at the same time. Then, go to Main Menu > Test Mode > GPS Test > Cold Start to reset the GPS data from the device.

Where can I find what changed from the 1.03 to the 1.04 firmware?

I just updated my computer and the one thing I was most hoping to see is not there - Temperature in Fahrenheit!   I'm very surprised by this since it's just a simple conversion to display that way.

Also, I find the verification of the scrambled letters required to post to this board very annoying! It usually takes me 3-4 tries to get the letters correct.

i have a problem: during flashing PC soft and device hanged at 000% programmed. After turning it off and than going to flash mode (i'm pushing buttons power + OK + arrow ) i tried to flash several times but after programming 0 to 4% (it's deppends on version of firmware) apears window "Device Firmware upgrade failed!". can anyone help me?

Just a few questions:
Were you able to update the firmware of the GB-580 again?
Are you able to turn it on and use the device?
Was it still functioning properly after you use the device?

You can possibly try following the steps to perform the update process again:
- Plugging in the provided USB Cable directly to another USB port
- Trying to upgrade the firmware again
