Firmware F-GGH-2P-1312161??
« on: July 29, 2014, 03:21:46 pm »

I've just spoted on the globalsat webpage that there is a new firmware available for 625XT: F-GGH-2P-1312161 / English / 2013-12-16.

However, 1312161 release note says exactly the same as for the previous Firmware F-GGH-2P-1210231:

Quote
Offical released formal firmware (latest)
UI Language :English, Spanish, Italian, French, German, Chinese(SC), Chinese(TC), Japanese
Release note :
1. Modify PACE value is sampled average per 30 seconds.
2. Fixing PACE INIZ can't count issue.
3. Add japanese language
4.Modify Lap message display time to 7 seconds.
5.Fixing a bug : When  turn on the back light , the battery capicity indicator will down obviously.

Any ideas on what changed on from 1210231 to 1312161?
And, any advise on whether to upgrade or not?

Thanks!

The firmware has been around since March at least.
I do not know what changes that have been done, but the SpoQ logs from same time lists only translation updates.

I have not seen any changes, but HR strap is broken, so I do not use it much. A friend used it on an Ultra run though.
(My unit is an early batch and the device itself works well.)

Thanks Gerhard,

so, probably not worth updating. I still use mine every other day and am happy with it.

Only one little thing annoyed me in the last 2 months: twice on some long workouts (5hrs biking) it corrupted the activity header upon saving. Thus, couldn't download the activity nor look at it on the watch - only solution was to "delete all" (and obviously loose those 5hrs).

Anyway, will use it until it breaks and then see what's around (in absence of further development from Globalsat, maybe Fenix2 or Ambit2?)
