http://www.gs-sport.com/pro_dl.php?en_product_id=10&en_product_cnt_id=33

Release note :

1. Altitude and auto calibration functions have been fully reviewed, redesigned and strengthened.

2. ANT+ connection is reinforced.

3. Other improvements such as GPS speed, heart rate related functions and miscellaneous.

---
Unmentioned in the release notes is that the device records temperature data.

Note: This version changes the internal format and it is not compatible with TGG 1.7.5. If more than one lap, laps are incorrectly imported.

The release requires an updated version of the SportTracks plugin, available here: https://code.google.com/p/globalsat-sporttracks-plugin/

Thanks,

There are issues with this Firmware. This firmware should not have been released without proper testing. My advise is not bother to "upgrade":
http://www.usglobalsat.com/forum/index.php?topic=4663.msg14650#msg14650

I'm posting what I wrote on the other thread as this firmware now has its own thread:

"I had issues with the V2.0 201402241 firmware. I upload a KML file to the device and it upload fine but when I went to Activity > Activity Info > Training Info and selected the uploaded KML then tried to Track Back > Forward.  It just showed "Start" for a while (15 minutes while optimizing the file I guess) and then went back to the activity details screen but none of the buttons responded. The only way to get out of there was to turn off the unit and turn it on again. In other words Forward navigation does not work. Did not try Backward navigation.

I downgraded back to firmware V2.0 1305232."

Globalsat just updated TGP to 1.7.10, imports correctly, including temperature.
(No graph but listed for track points.)

Hi, I have got the same here, but I think you should now upload to routes and choose PC routes. This is what I did and it is showing the map, it thus not do that in trackback activity. the good thing is that it is possible to manually zoom in or out. I did not ride with it yet, but is promising that the total course points where showing more than 4000 points. I have a Garmin 810 now and use the Globalsat Gb580p a lot less. This was mainly be course of the lack of manual zoom and to less smart track points.

I did some extra testing, this is what I found:
1. TGPro 1.7.10 is the program to use and load in a track or route sending it to route on the GB580(p) works fine
2. You can also use way points with the track to, and it is to see in the map.
3. the PC-route in navigation shows you the route and if you load it, you can see the line and you see the arrow (as in trackback)
4. the settings can be down loaded in TGPro, but chancing it and uploading to the GB580P is not possible
5. changes in map settings in config can be done, but they go back to default after you left config (orientation N and zoom auto)
6. It looks like that the problems with gpx are over now in PC-routes
7. plugin from sporttracks thus not work correctly anymore!!! Gerhard if you read, can you contact me?
8. so far there are on the side of following a track or route not much changes in practices
9. Nice is that there are totals now, good work!
10 trackback can not be used anymore for following a track
11. In total you can say, there is not much what got better, no real working zoom, ST3.1plugin is not working correct anymore, trackback thus not allow driving Tracks annymore. In PC-Route you don't het more then 199 points. The firmware needs to be redirected.

Can you try this latest version of the firmware, and see if it resolves the issues with the activity?

I tried this new FW and the Activity Trackback worked properly. Thank you for supplying the fix.

Can someone tell me the difference between loading an Activity track and loading the same Route to the GB-580? Both seem to operate the same when I follow them. Are there any differences between the two?

Thanks!

Thanks Jesse,

It works with activity now, also the plugin from Gerhard in ST3.1. (good work Gerhard) :D
I didn't know there was already a fix for activity, I was out the country for 2 weeks (on the bike traveling, so no internet)
Still there are some minor problems to solve now:
1. zoom auto or manual, is possible to select but thus nothing except auto zoom, same with birds eye view and North
2. loading in the device configuration works, but saving it to the device gives an ERROR

Thanks for the quick reaction and changes to the firmware.

With regards,

Albert

Regarding issue #2, can you try this version of the Training Gym Pro software and see if you are still having issues saving the files?

I'll let our engineers know about the zoom issues.

I tried it, but it is not TGPro, I did also not thought it would be, because I have different versions off TGP and none are working. But go back to older FW on the GB580 will let it work!!!

Albert

Try using a different USB cable and/or a different USB port on your computer.
You can also try flashing the previous stable firmware version (V2.0 130523) instead. I think there is a link somewhere in this forum to download it.

I tried the 1406201 firmware and although it had fixed some of the issues of the very buggy 1402241 version, it also had issues (on a 200k ride I used track back navigation and it kept going out of the navigation map to the settings screen every few minutes. It recorded the ride fine but it was a pain to having to push buttons while riding to get out of the settings screen and back into the map screen)  so again I went back to the stable firmware version, V2.0 130523.
