Author Topic: Blank COM ports with Data Logger PC Utility for Windows XP/Vista/7  (Read 2739 times)

If your computer doesn't have administrator rights, here's a possible fix.

Copy the .bat and .ini files from the Data Logger PC Utility to C:\WINDOWS\system32\GroupPolicy\Machine\Scripts\Startup

start -> run -> gpedit.msc.

Windows settings -> scripts -> startup.

Add -> browse -> select serial.bat.

Reboot and this should be working fine

Another solution is to give users or everyone control of the following keys/folders:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Tracing
HKLM\Hardware\Devicemap\Serialcomm

C:\Program Files\GlobalSat (The install directory).

If you're running in a Domain environment on Windows, you must give the user Full Control rights to the root of the program folder on the C:\Program Files (x86)\Data Logger folder.
