Thanks for advise.
The over all appearence is not harmonious to you, do you think it work if we change the color or add some symbol?
How about changing screen to round? Or it needs to add more button or change the placement?
Let's brainstorming to come out best idea.

I still don't really know what's bugging me with the over all appearance but it seems like everybody else likes it so don't waste to much energy on one man's concern. . It might just be being traditional. I'm brought up with the fact that analog watches have round shapes, digital are squared-rectangular.    (And i am getting used to it the more i look at it.)

When it comes to your other questions: NO! Don't go Suunto and make the display round. Square-rectangle is way better. When it comes to buttons I assume that your engineers have good reason to strip the watch down to 4 buttons. for usability I still support the frontbutton.

Oh, and the bigger display, the better. :-)

The upper and lower side of the screen are a little rounded, or it is the bumbed/flat rim?

I like the rounded display much more than the original one:
 

And I also like the "Full LCD" versions shown in the posting of canadien. It gives me the feeling, that
there isn't so much wasted space.
However - I'm not sure, if it will be possible to use the extra space of a larger display in an efficient way.
For sure it would need some complete new ideas for splitting the display into different areas.

To reserve fake space to compromise full disply is nice, just one challenge there: The background color is little different to active and non-active area. Let's keep discussion before we start project.

Yes it's garmin 110. Other one I don't know I think compass whatever.

Here is one of my idea quickly done. Will play later with color.
My idea is to offer the option to display or not the time of the day at the bottom of the screen without encroach on the activity areas.

Handful for long activity ex:ultratrail, ironman, outdoor expedition, etc.

Looks good, the time is a good feature there, I and rest of Europe likes the 24 hour model better so 13:24. But this can be cleared in configuration .
And in navigation it good give Speed ore HRM instead . If this is a more separate permanent field it gives a lot of options.
